As President Muhammadu Buhari continues his medical vacation in London, prayers for his quick recovery has seems endless.
On Monday, February 27, a former head of state Yakubu Gowon and a former governor of Adamawa state Murtala Nyako led many Nigerians in prayers for President Buhari.
The prayers – a Christian and Muslim session -occurred in two different locations in the state.
The groups during the prayers reaffirmed their confidence in the President Buhari/ All Progressives Congress administration.
Punch reports that Adamawa state also witnessed various intercessory prayers for President Buhari and the acting president Yemi Osinbajo.
Leading the Christian group at the annual convention of the Diocesan Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria in Demsa Gowon prayed for a divine intervention in the health of President Buhari.
He said the survival of Nigeria as a nation lies in the tolerance by both religions.
Gowon said: “We are all God’s children; this is the time our unity as a people will also be put to test. For me, the survival of the nation lies in our tolerance. If it is well with President Muhammadu Buhari, it will be well with our nation.
“So, we all need to come together, irrespective of our religion, to ask for divine intervention in the health of the President as well as his speedy recovery,” Gowon said.
Also, the Adamawa state govenor Muhammad Jibrilla urged all Nigerians to join hands in praying for the president
Jibrilla said: “I beg all of you in the name of God to respect and honour your leaders. So, let us pray for the quick recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari because that is what God commanded us concerning our leaders. We all voted for Buhari; we will also pray for him together.”
In another session, the former governor of the state who was represented by his son, Abdul’Aziz Nyako said the people of the North-East would continue to pray for President Buhari’s quick recovery and return to Nigeria.
He also assured that no vacuum has been created by the president’s leave.
