A Christian group called Northern Nigeria Christian Politicians (NNCP) has stated that the ongoing killings in Southern Kaduna is being perpetrated by President Muhammadu Buhari’s political enemies.
They said the enemies who are hell bent on ruining President Buhari’s administration and stop him from winning election in 2019, are the ones sponsoring the killings.
Southern Kaduna killings: Buhari’s political opponents behind crisis – NNCP
According to Daily Trust, the chairman of NNCP, Hon. Keftin Amuga, who made this known at a press briefing in Abuja, called on President Buhari not to give in to such political opponents whom, he said, were only prompted by pecuniary interests.
Amuga insisted that the Southern Kaduna killings were not carried out by local Fulani herdsmen who have little to no knowledge of modern weapons as reportedly being used in the attacks.
Amuga said: “The NNCP is grieved over the Southern Kaduna crisis and those in neighboring Nasarawa, Benue, Plateau and Taraba states and condemns it in its entirety.
“We, therefore, demand that the federal government arrests and prosecutes both the masterminds and the foot soldiers.”
He also called on religious leaders and traditional rulers to come together and admit the root of the crisis so peace can be restored to the region.
Amuga also commended the President for turning down the Senate’s recommendation that SGF Babachir Lawal should be sacked. Amuga said: for turning down the Senate’s recommendation that SGF Babachir Lawal should be sacked. Amuga said: “doing so could have compromised due process and created a precedence that could become an albatross.”
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ugheli, Delta state Diamond Emuobor has urged Christians to ‘own swords’ and defend themselves against Southern Kaduna attacks.
Emuobor said the attacks by Fulani herdsmen cannot be left undefended.
He said: “Christians should defend themselves and he who has no sword, should sell his coat and buy one to defend himself.”
