A Lagos High Court has given the former minister of state for defence Musiliu Obanikoro an ultimatum to settle defamation suit filed against two media organizations – Premium Times and Sahara Reporters.
The court in its ruling gave an order mandating the former minister to settle his suit against the organizations before the Alternative Dispute and Resolution (ADR) within seven days.
Premium Times reports that the judge over the matter said Obanikoro should also give a progress report on the suit on April 7, the next adjourned date.
Obanikoro had earlier filed a defamation suit against the two media organizations.
The former junior minister accused the organizations of implicating him the Ekiti State governorship election rigging scandal reports.
Recall that a serving Nigerian army colonel Musa Sagir had leaked and audio tape of illegal activities committed by the former minister during the 2014 Ekiti election.
The colonel also said Obanikoro coordinated the activities of military personnel and the distribution of money to party member alongside another senior army officer.
